Itinerary

We will be meeting in Rishikesh and starting our drive to Sankri, early morning. The route will take us through Dehradun, Mussoorie, Damta, Purola and Mori. We will drive alongside the Yamuna river and you can enjoy the scintillating scenic route. We will reach Sankri by early evening so that we can explore this charming little village that is settled in the Govind National park and sanctuary. There are old styled houses and a small market where you can get some essentials. This is the base camp for many treks like Har ki doon, Kedarkantha, Rupin pass, Bali pass etc. You can explore the market and check out some local dishes if you want. We check into our accommodation Guesthouse/homestay and rest for the night.

After ample rest and a delicious breakfast, we start off to our first destination, Juda ka talab. This is undoubtedly one of the most picture perfect campsites in the Himalayas. Today we walk for 4 kms from sankri. The climb is a gradual ascent and steep at some points. Make sure to walk slowly and steadily. This trail takes us through dense forest and many resting points give us a clear view of the entire mountain forests that we are walking through. You can also spot many types of birds and small animals like pine martens and hares. When we reach the campsite, you are going to be left spellbound with the natural beauty of the place. It is unparalleled and looks like a sight from fairytales. This is jackpot day for photography lovers. We will enjoy stargazing and hit the sack after a delicious dinner.

This is going to be a very exciting day for us since we are going to gain altitude and walk into a different type of mountain landscape. Today we will be covering more distance and the route will take us through dense forests and vast meadows. You will see the tree line thinning out as we climb to a higher altitude and the trail opens up into green meadows. You can enjoy panoramic views of the greater Himalayan peaks like Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kala nag etc right through this trail. You will cherish the mesmerizing landscape as it almost looks unreal with its beauty. Our goal will be to reach Kedarkantha top to watch the sunset. We will set camp at Kedarkantha base and head off to catch the sunset. The climb is pretty easy in the beginning and can be steep at a few places towards the end so watch your step and carry on. We enjoy the sunset and witness the 360 degree views of Himalayan peaks. As the sun sets, you can rejoice and enjoy the feeling of having climbed a summit. Today you will be on a mountain top as the sun sets behind snow covered Himalayas. There is a temple of Lord shiva, parvati and Ganesh. You can offer your prayers and start the descent back to the base camp.
When we reach the campsite, hot dinner awaits us. After a night of enjoying great night sky views and tasty food, we call it a night and get the rest we need for the next day.

Today we start our descent towards Hargaon. This day is going to be easier for you since we will be descending and it can be quite a lot of fun. However, it is advised to never run on the trail because many times we are unable to control the pace due to the uneven trail. The route takes us through small meadows and dense forest trails. You will see the trail in a different light all together since the experience of coming down is totally different than going up. We will reach Hargaon where we will set camp and huddle around a bonfire. After dinner and great conversations, we go back to our tents to get a good night’s sleep.

This is the last day of our trek and we will be heading back. Today we start early in the morning and start our descent. It is just 4 kilometers to Sankri so we will enjoy our breakfast and head down smoothly. The path is well laid and you will be passing a lot of pine forests on the way. If you turn back and see where you are coming from, you will be filled with excitement of having touched the top. We reach Sankri in a couple of hours and then begin our journey towards Rishikesh. This drive is going to be very different from the one which brought you here. Now you have a lot of new bonds and memories that you will never forget. We will reach Rishikesh by evening. You can choose to explore Rishikesh further or set off for your next destination. This will be the end of our tour at a sweet note where we say goodbye and look forward to trekking with you again.
